Zimbabwe to ramp up vaccination to attain herd immunity

Oct 27, 2021

Harare (Zimbabwe), October 27: Zimbabwe is to ramp up its vaccination campaign to attain herd immunity against the COVID-19 by year-end, the Zimbabwean government said on Tuesday.
A program of activities were compiled in consultation with all relevant stakeholders to accelerate the vaccination campaign, Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said after a post-cabinet media briefing.
"The public will be kept abreast of the developments. Government urges all citizens who are yet to be inoculated to present themselves for vaccination," Mutsvangwa said.
The country has to date acquired about 13 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines, with 3,275,033 first doses and 2,545,717 second doses having been administered.
It aims to vaccinate 10 million people out of a population of about 14 million by December this year.
