Paris Hilton canceled 17 interview appointments for Kim Kardashian's new project

Oct 26, 2026

New York [US], October 26: Kim Kardashian is reportedly furious that her former close friend Paris Hilton refused to be interviewed for a new biography about her. Notably, Paris Hilton reportedly canceled 17 appointments with the author in about four months, Daily Mail reported on October 25.
For five years, journalist Jonathan Van Meter worked on Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future with Kim Kardashian's consent, but he still encountered quite a few difficulties. The book is scheduled for release on October 27th.
During the making of the book, Jonathan Van Meter wanted to speak with Paris Hilton, who had known Kim Kardashian since childhood and had hired her as an assistant in the early 2000s. However, the "party queen" reportedly canceled interviews multiple times, much to Kim Kardashian's annoyance. "Kim was furious when I told her about it. It seemed to reignite a long-standing resentment between them. It was like the creator turned her back on the creator," Jonathan Van Meter told The Hollywood Reporter, implicitly linking Paris Hilton's role in launching Kim Kardashian into the world of celebrity to Kim's subsequent rise and the resulting strained relationship. The author added: "I sent questions, contacted Paris's assistant, and the interview was canceled 17 times in about four months. Ultimately, I realized those cancellations were more interesting than anything she could have told me."
Jonathan Van Meter said Paris Hilton only became someone he wanted to consult when the book was nearing completion. "At the final stage, I told Kim I should talk to Paris. Kim checked it out and said Paris agreed, but I had to work through her media representative. That was quite unusual because with other people, Kim would just text directly," he recounted.
Kim Kardashian began receiving media attention in the early 2000s, when she worked as an assistant and stylist for Paris Hilton. She even made guest appearances in several episodes of the reality TV show The Simple Life, which featured Paris Hilton and her then-best friend, Nicole Richie.
Following the uproar caused by a private video between Kim Kardashian and her ex-boyfriend Ray J, the Kardashian- Jenner family ventured into reality television with their show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, on E!.
In 2021, Kim Kardashian addressed the widely publicized feud between her and Paris Hilton during the season 20 reunion of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Her sister, Kourtney Kardashian, claimed that Paris Hilton was among the family friends who had become resentful and jealous after their reality show became successful. "When things started to explode, it felt like: What's going on? Then we simply stopped talking," Kim Kardashian recounted about the period when her friendship with Paris Hilton fractured.
She added, "I think we drifted apart for a while, but things are great between us now. I really have a lot of respect for Paris." The Skims founder also acknowledged that Paris Hilton played a significant role in helping her enter the world of celebrity: "I would never think I'd be so good that I'd forget where I came from. I understand that she's been a huge part of my career." "Being close friends with her for so long has opened up a whole different world for me. We have a very good relationship now," she affirmed.
In the reunion show hosted by Andy Cohen, Kourtney Kardashian recalled Paris Hilton's negative comments about Kim Kardashian's famous derriere, comparing it to "cottage cheese inside a big garbage bag." Kim Kardashian admitted, "She gave an interview and said something negative about me. But then we talked and had a really mature conversation about it."
